School of Integrated Science and Humanity (SISH)

Welcome to the School of Integrated Science and Humanity at Florida International University. Established in 2009 by the College of Arts and Sciences, SISH incorporates academic departments together with innovative research centers and institutes to create a multi-disciplinary home for the study of biomedical, behavioral, cognitive and neurosciences.

The school utilizes more than 165 faculty members in the departments of Chemistry & Biochemistry, Forensic Science, Mathematics & Statistical Science, Philosophy, Physics, Psychology, and the Women’s Studies Center. In partnership with the colleges of Medicine, Education, and Engineering, the school fosters initiatives in biomolecular and cognitive neurosciences, developmental and clinical science, and science and mathematics education.

With state-of-the-art research facilities, world-renowned faculty, and cross-disciplinary education, SISH prepares students to succeed in the ever-growing fields of human health and biomedical and behavioral science.

Mission

  • To be a premier program for multi-disciplinary research in the fields of the basic biomedical sciences and behavioral sciences research.
  • To provide a unique educational environment for FIU students via synergistic relationships between the interdisciplinary programs, academic departments and research centers in the school.
  • To provide a focus for planned growth in the College of Arts and Sciences in partnership with other FIU Colleges including Medicine, Public Health and Engineering as well as with outside units.
