Top Ten Reasons…

Incompletes or NR’s

You can’t graduate from FIU if you have any “I’s” (incompletes) or “NR’s” remaining on your transcript.

Even if you have a 4.0 GPA and have fulfilled all your major, college, and university requirements, and have 120 hours, if you have even a single “I” or “NR” left, you will not graduate.

“I”s and “NR”s are not grades; they are placeholders for grade. We cannot post your degree with “placeholders.”  They must all be real grades at the time your transcript is “frozen” and your degree is posted.

In some cases, when you have fulfilled all other requirements, but have incompletes hanging over your head the semester of graduation, it may actually be desirable to ask the faculty member for an F in the course (if you are not going to make up the work then and there).  With an “F” you can graduate; with an “I” you can’t.
